My eyes begin to develop myopia or short-sightedness when I was ~ 15 or 16 years old. That was the time when our family bought our first computer, ever since then, I use the computer a lot, particularly for playing games....internet games, downloadable emulated games, PC games. My vision progress worst and worst. Getting into college didn't help my vision, hours of study and reading gradually worsen my vision, my eye glasses power is now in the -5.0 range. Now that I am really regretting using computers/games/reading too much, I begin to search for more details on myopia. What is surprising me is that there is genetic cause? None of my parents or siblings wear glasses, perfect 20/20 without vision aid, so that must have rule out the genetic cause of my case. So for someone with a "genetic cause", even if he or she doesn't use computer or reading too much at all, would just naturally develop myopia? I would really appreciate more details on this subject, obviously, my motivation is a cure, not contact lens, not LASIK, because you would agree that there must be researchers out there looking for ways to reverse the lengthening of the eye balls?
